2° aldosteronism

Due to reduced intravascular volume( e.g overdiuresis, edematous states, diarrhoea,surreptitious vomitting) or Barter's syndrome where there's defect in kidneys' ability to conserve sodium.

There's:
high aldosterone
hypokalaemia
muscle weakness
metabolic alkalosis
high renin (renin dependent hyperaldosteronism)

Unlike 1° aldosteronism,
There's no hypertension
There may be edema
